Hamsik: Napoli must battle till for Champions League spot

The Slovakia international was happy with the draw against AC Milan on Sunday, but still feels they must be at the top of their game if they are to finish second in Serie A
Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik has admitted the club needs to fight until the end of the season if they are to assure themselves of Champions League football.

The Naples outfit are currently second in Serie A, and after securing a draw against rivals AC Milan on Sunday, are now in pole position to claim the second automatic spot in Europe's premier club competition.

With six matches to play, the gap to third-placed Milan is four points, and though the Slovakia international insisted they achieved their goal by taking a point off the Rossoneri, he says the job was far from done.

"We accomplished our goal as we didn't want AC Milan to catch up. We drew gaining an important point. We were not far from victory," he wrote on his own website.

"There are still six games, Napoli are located in second place, which guarantees participation in the Champions League, but there will still be a tough fight.

"To participate
in the Champions League we have to fight to the end of the season."

Walter Mazzarri's side still have to take on Inter and Roma before the end of the campaign, though they will be confident of keeping hold of their European berth.
