Napoli did not deserve bad run, says Cavani
The Partenopei ended a seven-match stretch without a win on Sunday and the Uruguayan is hoping it will start a revival
Napoli star Edinson Cavani has claimed that his side "did not deserve" their seven-match run without a win after leading them to a 3-2 victory over Atalanta on Saturday. The 26-year-old netted twice in the San Paolo triumph to bring an end to his six-week goal drought and help his side to three much-needed points, which he thinks will provide everyone a confidence boost.
"We come from a dark period that we did not deserve. Now let's enjoy this win and get back to work with the right serenity. We aim to finish as high as possible in the table now," he told Sky Sport Italia.
The Uruguay international also refused to be drawn into the rumours surrounding his personal life which are believed to have contributed to his barren period.
"I will not speak about my private life, but I am a professional and I will always give my best," he added.
"I never lost my smile. I was not concerned with my own goals, but the results for the team were poor too."
Napoli resume their push to consolidate their Champions League spot with a trip to Torino in two weeks' time.
