Moratti: Inter proved critics wrong
The club president felt his side put in a strong performance to silence their critics, and wants them to keep up their current form
Inter president Massimo Moratti has voiced his delight with the Nerazzurri's 4-1 win after extra time over Tottenham Hotspur in Thursday's Europa League encounter at the Giuseppe Meazza. The Serie A outfit were eliminated on the away goals rule as they had lost the first leg of the round of 16 tie 3-0 at White Hart Lane, but Moratti was very pleased with his side's performance, regardless of their Europa League exit.
"The players did what everybody said we couldn't do. They showed pride and were dangerous," Moratti told Inter Channel.
"We're all very proud of the team, I can only congratulate them. We went out, OK, but had it been the Champions League I'd have been a lot more disappointed.
"This win is huge from a psychological perspective. We saw that we can rely on young and older players alike, who have character and pride. This mix, this form needs to be maintained."
Inter resume Serie A action on Sunday when they take on Sampdoria.
