Maldini: De Sciglio still has room for improvement
The Rossoneri legend has offered the youngster words of encouragement, and feels he has the potential to become an even better player over time
Paolo Maldini has taken the time to praise AC Milan youngster Mattia De Sciglio, but believes the defender still has plenty of room for improvement. The 20-year-old has been one of the revelations of the 2012-13 campaign as he has developed into an important first team member at Milan, and his good performances have not gone unnoticed elsewhere.
"I like watching De Sciglio play - how he makes himself useful to his team-mates and how he runs up and down the flank," Maldini told Milan Channel.
"De Sciglio definitely has the Milan style and the appearance of a Milan player. He has the advantage of being a versatile player. He can play on both the left and the right side.
"Physically he can still improve a lot but even when I was 20 years old I was not fully mature and was not a complete athlete. I believe he will do the same.
"There is one more thing I think he can improve on: He needs to have more of a killer instinct - in a sporting sense of course."
De Sciglio has made 19 Serie A appearances so far this season.
