Zeman not bitter about Roma sacking
The veteran Czech coach has expressed his disappointment at being axed by the capital club, claiming that he did not expect to be dismissed from his position
Zdenek Zeman has insisted that he is not bitter about his dismissal as Roma coach following last week's 4-2 loss at home to Cagliari. The capital club had been on a poor run of form since the start of 2013, and the Giallorossi saw fit to sack the 65-year-old, cuing mass protests against the board.
And the former Lazio boss has denied that rumours of a rift in the dressing room, but took time to thank fans for their show of affection towards him.
“I do not feel abandoned by the players and the team never played against me," he told reporters.
“I am not happy about being sacked, that's for sure – but I've spoken with [captain Francesco] Tottiand the board. It's nice to see the affection from the fans – I didn't expect it."
Roma currently sit in eighth spot in Serie A, nine points behind city-rivals Lazio, who occupy the final Champions League place.
