Tottenham and Lazio fined by Uefa following Europa League clash
The Premier League club have received an €10,000 sanction for crowd disturbances during the game in Italy, while the Serie A side have been hit with a €140,000 charge for racism
Uefa have handed out fines to Tottenham, Lazio and Maribor following crowd disturbances in the Europa League, with the Italian side picking up the biggest sanction.
Spurs have been fined €10,000 for poor support conduct during their game against the Serie A club in Rome on November 22, 2012, while Lazio have been docked €90,000 for racist behaviour from their fans in the same match.
Maribor have also been fined €17,000 for insufficient match organisation and throwing of missiles and/or fireworks by their supporters at a game against Lazio in Slovenia on December 6. For their fans' racist conduct, ignition of fireworks and incidents of a non-sporting nature in the same match, the Italian side have been fined another €50,000.
The Uefa Control and Disciplinary Body has, however, deferred a decision on ordering Lazio to play their next European match behind closed doors, despite the repeated racism offences. The sanction has been suspended for a probationary period of two years.
An appeal may be lodged by either club wishing to attest the verdicts within three days of the fines being handed out.
