Inter doing better than expected, admits Moratti

The Nerazzurri boss is pleased with his side's recent run of results, and has hailed Antonio Cassano's influence on the team since his summer move
Inter president Massimo Moratti has voiced his delight with the Nerazzurri's performances in the opening months of the 2012-13 campaign, saying that they have done better than he expected at the start of the season.The Giuseppe Meazza side lost experienced players such as Julio Cesar, Lucio and Maicon in the summer transfer window, but currently sit second in the Serie A table with 34 points from 16 games.
"We began in a situation in which everything was new, from the players to the coach. Given the high percentage of new elements, we’ve done better than I thought we would," Moratti told Ansa.
"I’d say we’re doing what is within our possibilities. We’ll have to see at the end whether they are superior to those of the other teams."
The Inter supremo then went on to praise Antonio Cassano for his good performances this term and his behaviour off the pitch.
"He’s an artist, and when there’s an artist at work anything is possible. What pleases me, in addition to what he does on the field, is that he seems well integrated, which is good for both us and him."
Cassano has netted five goals in 19 appearances for Inter so far this season.
