Platini: Juventus can spring surprise in Champions League
The former France international believes the Bianconeri can survive the group stages, while also revealing he would love to see Diego Maradona coaching at Napoli some day
Uefa president Michel Platini believes that Juventus could surprise in the Champions League and make it to the knock-out stages of the Champions League after all.The Serie A champions currently sit third in Group E with six points from four games, trailing joint leaders Shakhtar Donetsk and Chelsea by one point, and they cannot afford to slip up in their remaining two group games.
"I like Serie A. There's some good football on show. Juventus are a spectacular team to watch. They have impressed me with their style of play," Platini told Corriere dello Sport.
"Juventus are favourites to win the Scudetto and they could spring a surprise in the Champions League."
Platini then went on to discuss his relationship with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, and stated that he would like to see Diego Maradona in charge of the Partenopei.
"I don't ever seem to agree with De Laurentiis on something, but we meet each other and talk often" the ex-Bleus legend added. "He has helped Napoli back to where they are now.
"I would like to see Maradona on the Napoli bench at some point. It would be a fascinating sight."
The former Argentina star and head coach has been out of work ever since he got the sack at Al Wasl in July.
