Materazzi: Cassano should count to 10 before he opens his mouth, but he only gets to eight
The 39-year-old feels the controversial attacker should think before he voices his opinion, while adding that the Giuseppe Meazza side can win the Scudetto this term
Marco Materazzi feels that Antonio Cassano has the quality to make the difference for Inter following his summer move from AC Milan, despite his tendency to cause controversy. The 30-year-old has made the headlines more than once throughout his career, following a number of verbal outbursts, and Materazzi believes he would be wise to think twice before voicing his opinion in public.
"He should count to 10 before he opens his mouth, but he only gets to eight," Materazzi wrote in a column for La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"However, if he is used in the right way, Antonio can really make a difference at Inter."
The former Italy international feels that Inter have what it takes to challenge for the Scudetto again, while also taking the time to praise Andrea Ranocchia's coming of age.
"With [Wesley] Sneijder and [Diego] Milito, and the return of [Christian] Chivu and [Walter] Samuel in defence, Inter can challenge for the title and there will no longer be a problem of letting in too many goals," he stated.
"And have you seen how well Ranocchia is playing? Just as I predicted, he has become my successor."
Inter currently sit in ninth place in the Serie A table with three points from two games.
