I want to become the best, says Inter's Ranocchia

The centre-back had a difficult 2011-12 campaign, but is determined to improve in the new season as he strives to prove that he is worthy of the Nerazzurri shirt
Andrea Ranocchia is determined to prove his worth at Inter in the upcoming campaign as he aims to become the best player in his position.

The Italy international struggled to find his best form in the 2011-12 season, and received his fair share of criticism for his performances. Ranocchia admitted that he was below par last term, but is determined to learn from his mistakes and improve.

"Last season I struggled to do anything, really. But I've worked hard to reach this stage of pre-season in top shape so that I can go on to have a great season," Ranocchia stated to the official Inter website.

"I'm striving every day not just to be a better player, but to become the best. I've learnt from the mistakes I made last term and I'm trying to make up for it.

"I've paid my dues and worked my way up through the different categories. Now I hope to stay here for as long as possible and prove that I'm worthy of this shirt."

The 24-year-old has made 30 Serie A appearances for Inter since joining them from Genoa in January 2011.
