Kevin-Prince Boateng has expressed his belief that AC Milan are worthy of retaining their Serie A crown, claiming his side "deserve the Scudetto".
The title holders have almost turned the title race around with only two games to go, going into the Milan derby on Sunday trailing leaders Juventus by just one point.
The Ghanaian midfielder hailed his side for overcoming the controversy surrounding their home draw against Juve, when Sulley Muntari had a goal disallowed in questionable circumstances, to remain in touch at the top.
Boateng told Sky Sport Italia: "We have closed the gap and our objective is to keep believing to the end.
"We deserve the Scudetto, despite the fact Juventus have had a good season. It is a strange campaign and we have played so many matches.
"I was on the bench when news filtered through that Lecce had equalised against Juve. The whole stadium just exploded. We won and they made a mistake.
"Their fixture list is easier now, but they have the pressure on their shoulders because if they slip up again then we are ready."
Muntari's disallowed goal against Juventus back in February could have proved a turning point in the title race, but Boateng insists his team have put the disappointment behind to stay focused on their following fixtures.
He added: "That incident is in the past and I don’t think it's right to talk about it now, but it was important. With that goal, we'd have another two points and would be the leaders."
