thumbnail Hello,

The Uruguay international says that the team did not show the right attitude in the match but insists that finishing third in Serie A is still possible

Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has blamed the team's passive attitude for Sunday's 2-2 draw against Catania at the San Paolo.

The Partenopei wasted a two-goal lead as late strikes from Nicolas Spolli and Davide Lanzafame dragged the Sicilians back into the match. Walter Mazzarri's men have fallen three points behind Lazio in the race for third place and the final Champions League spot after the Biancocelesti defeated Cagliari.

"We made so many mistakes and we lacked the desire to win," Cavani told reporters after the game.

"In football you need that kind of attitude, otherwise you cannot go anywhere. This game leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, considering the way we came out in the first half, but we have to look ahead."

Despite the gap between Napoli and Lazio, Cavani is confident that his side can finish the season in the Champions League qualification zone.

"I do not think it is more complicated now," the Uruguayan noted. "We must continue to fight and work to finish third and play in the Champions League again."
