Napoli goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis has acknowledged that he and his team-mates are unhappy with their Serie A form this season.

The Naples club face an uphill task to reach the Champions League once again as they lie in seventh place, 10 points off fourth-placed Udinese, albeit with a match in hand.

"In the last month-and-a-half, we wanted to get higher in the table because we give a lot of importance to the league," De Sanctis told Sky Sport Italia.

"Unfortunately, we could not do it, but we can always secure a place in an European competition for the third year in a row."

Napoli, who have 31 points from 22 matches, host Chievo on Monday at 20.45CET.
