Juventus coach Antonio Conte recently stated his belief that versatile star Emanuele Giaccherini could be called up by Italy boss Cesare Prandelli for Euro 2012 after his recent good performances with the Bianconeri.

The player, who starred with Cesena last season and moved to the current Serie A leaders on a co-ownership deal in the summer, has started to replicate dynamic displays of a similar ilk to the ones he delivered with the Seahorses, proving to be a key player in both a wide and central midfield role.

With the Azzurri potentially having to do without sidelined duo Antonio Cassano and Giuseppe Rossi, Prandelli's attacking options have been cut short - but does the diminutive playmaker fit the bill?

The 26-year-old is a player who provides a spark of energy, a bit of a creative edge, and even natural width in the final third of the pitch. Indeed, the latter proving to be an area where Italy do not have a plethora of choices - yet doubts do persist as to whether the winger can make the cut at the highest levels.

Should Giaccherini be called up to the Italy squad for Euro 2012? Can he prove useful during a top international competition? Or should Prandelli stick with the players from qualifying?
