Genoa have received some disappointing news from the treatment table as Alberto Gilardino will miss the next four weeks with a calf injury.

A scan on Wednesday evening revealed an injury to the soleus muscle of his calf, a problem that could see him miss up to a month of action, according to Genovatoday.it.

Gilardino is expected to miss the club's Serie A matches against Catania, Atalanta, Chievo, Parma and Lecce.

The news comes as a blow to the former Fiorentina striker, who signed for Genoa in the winter transfer window.

The Italian has scored one goal in five Serie A appearances for Genoa.
