Pasqual Nears Fiorentina Exit - Reports
Fiorentina defender Manuel Pasqual is likely to leave the Viola in January and Napoli are amongst the clubs keen on securing his signature, according to La Nazione.
The Italian international is having a hard time in Florence this term, with the arrival of Juan Manuel Vargas has severely reducing his first team appearances.
The left-back was linked with several clubs last summer, but was forced to remain in Tuscany with no sides prepared to meet the Gigliati’s economic demands.
He has played a starring role over the last few games due to Vargas’ injury problems, but will miss the match in Cagliari this afternoon because of a muscular twinge.
And Florentine newspaper La Nazione has suggested his absence from the Viola starting eleven could be a prolonged one, stating that his future might lie away from the Stadio Franchi.
There were whispers last month that Calabrian minnows Reggina were interested in his services, but it is also alleged that Napoli director of sport Pierpaolo Marino could table a bid in the new year.
Viola transfer guru Pantaleo Corvino rejected an offer from the Vesuviani last August, but is expected to reduce his demands this time around.
A hefty price-tag of €3.5m was slapped on Pasqual during the summer, but La Nazione said another possible option for the Campania-based outfit would be to initially bring the 26-year-old in on loan, with an option to make the move permanent next June.
