Fiorentina Wijnaldum Deal Collapses
It seems that Fiorentina will not be able to get their hands on Feyenoord's Georginio Wijnaldum in the near future as the player has ruled out a move abroad...
Fiorentina director of sport Panaleo Corvino is always scouring Europe for deals on young and gifted footballers and it was recently reported the club are interested in Feyenoord's Georginio Wijnaldum.
Corvino brought young prospect Stevan Jovetic to the Viola this summer, but it appears he will not be able to do the same with Wijnaldum, who does not believe a move abroad is in his best interests at this time.
"I will definately stay here for two more seasons," said the 18-year-old midfielder. "I've never thought of leaving Feyenoord, my family is here and I'm still going to school. I'm too young to go abroad."
Reports suggested that Feyenoord were not willing to sell the talented player for less than €8 million, but Fiorentina appeared to be ready to spend on the Dutchman.
It seems I Gigliati will have to shelve their plans for Wijnaldum for the time being and concentrate on other transfer targets. In the meantime, Cesare Prandelli's side take on Cagliari at the Stadio Sant'Elia this Sunday afternoon.
