La Liga is our bread and butter, insists Simeone

The Argentine coach says La Liga is his team haven't won anything yet and must remain concentrated on Sunday's meeting with Levante

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has demanded his team remain concentrated on taking each game as it comes and says winning La Liga is their main priority this season.

The Argentinian's charges hold a three-point lead over Barcelona having played a game fewer, with bitter rivals Real Madrid six behind, although Carlo Ancelotti's men do have a game in hand.

Atletico travel to Levante on Sunday while Real host Valencia, and Simeone insisted his side would not be getting too far ahead of themselves, with a Champions League final against their city neighbours still to come at the end of the season.

"It's important and logical that we maintain the same degree of concentration that we've kept up all season, because we haven't won anything yet." he said.

"Yes, we have taken a giant step forward by getting into the final, without a shadow of a doubt, but the truth is that we are now thrown right back into the struggle that really matters, namely the league.

"La Liga is our bread and butter. It's what everybody is focused on every day and we have to take it match by match.

"There is still a lot to play for and now isn't the moment to be talking about what we've done, because there is still a long way to go and when the league is over we'll be judged by what we've achieved and where we ended up and not the situation we're in right now.

"It's not easy, because everything that's going on around us could distract us from our goal. Nevertheless, we will maintain our strength as a group and the team's focus will be on Levante, Levante, Levante, Levante and nobody else but Levante.

"As I said a long time ago, we depend on us. I just believe in the things I see related to football and when I turn on the TV I see that Levante is a competitive team, so I do not have anything else to comment."
