The Cameroonian has called for calm after the recent losses to Ajax and Athletic Bilbao but has accepted that his side must improveBarcelona midfielder Alex Song says that his side need to step up and show that they are the best team in the world.
The Blaugrana came in for harsh criticism after recently being beaten twice in the space of five days, first losing to Ajax in the Champions League before slipping to a 1-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao the weekend before last.
Song believes that Barca are still the strongest side in the game, but believes they must learn from their mistakes.
"We are the best team in the world but we always have to improve," the 26-year-old is quoted as saying by AS.
"Rival teams learn quickly, they work very hard to beat you but you can’t win a match before you play it. We have to show that we are the world’s best side and we have to win all of our games.
"It’s not a crime to lose a match; it’s not as if it’s an emergency.
"We are fully aware that we lost, we are professionals, we have great players in the squad and all of us have to start focusing on the games to come.
"We have taken a look at what happened and been critical with ourselves; now we have to look to the future and correct our errors. That’s what we do every day in training."
Song also thanked fellow Barca midfielder and former Arsenal team-mate Cesc Fabregas for helping him settle at Camp Nou.
"In comparison to my first year, I feel much better," the Cameroonian explained. "When you move to a new country and have to adapt to a new language, a new culture, which requires time.
"What I have discovered here is that we are like a big family and everyone has welcomed me with open arms.
"Cesc is like a brother to me. He took me by the hand and guided me through those difficult early moments and that made me feel better right away.
"Now I understand the language a little more, although I still struggle to express myself. Life’s much better and I am very happy to be here."
