The Brazil international, 25, admitted that Madrid still have room for improvement, but has stressed that they are growing game by game after a difficult start to the 2013-14 campaign.
"We did not play well in the first half, we are fully aware of that," Marcelo was quoted as saying on the official Uefa website.
"However I think we played much better in the second half and we earned a good result.
"We know we still have to improve but I think we are growing game by game."
Real Madrid sit atop of Group B of the Champions League with 10 points from four games and hold a six-point lead over Galatasaray and Copenhagen.
