The Atletico Madrid man, who has twice been capped by Brazil, is also eligible to represent Spain but will be summoned for the Gillette International Soccer Series in NovemberThe Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) have confirmed that coach Luiz Felipe Scolari will be call up Diego Costa next month.
The Atletico Madrid striker, who featured for Brazil in their March friendlies with Italy and Russia, is still eligible to play for Spain after acquiring Spanish nationality and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed their desire to have him represent La Roja via an official statement earlier this month.
The Lagarto-born 25-year-old is yet to reveal whether he will represent his adopted nation of that of his birth, but Selecao officials have confirmed he will be summoned for the upcoming Gillette International Soccer Series.
An official CBF statement on Thursday read:
“CBF sent documents to FIFA stating that Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari will again summon the player Diego Costa of Atletico of Madrid for the Brazil team’s friendlies in November [against] Honduras, on the 16th in Miami, and Chile, on the 19th in Toronto.”
