La Rojita and Jong Oranje both secured their passage out of the 'Group of Death' but Ranier Adrion and Nikolai Pisarev's sides both face early exitsNetherlands Under-21s 5-1 Russia Under-21s
Netherlands secured their place in the semi-finals of the tournament with a 5-1 mauling of 10-man Russia on Sunday.
Georginio Wijnaldum had given Jong Oranje the lead after some 40 minutes, but Nikita Chicherin's straight red card for dangerous play five minutes after the interval proved to be the game's turning point.
Netherlands boss Cor Pot then watched his team ruthlessly capitalise on their numerical advantage by netting a further four goals.
Borussia Monchengladbach star Luuk de Jong had opened up a 2-0 lead following the dismissal, but Denis Cheryshev provided a glimmer of hope when he halved the deficit on 66 minutes.
However, the hope was short lived when Ola John restored Netherlands' two-goal cushion before further strikes from Danny Hoesen and Leroy Fer added gloss to the scoreline.
Germany Under-21s 0-1 Spain Under-21s
Second-half substitute Alvaro Morata struck an 86th minute winner as Spain booked their place in the semi-final of the European Under-21 Championship with a narrow 1-0 victory over Germany.
Morata, who was also on-hand to snatch a point away from Russia earlier in the week in similar circumstances, proved the hero once again as the 20-year-old surged toward goal with four minutes remaining before tucking his right-footed effort past Germany goalkeeper Bernd Leno from an acute angle.
However, it was Germany who began brighter and Rainer Adrion's men nearly opened the scoring through captain Lewis Holtby but the Tottenham man saw his free-kick saved by Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.
Julen Lopetegui's men sparked into life and began playing like defending champions, with Isco and Thiago both going close to breaking the deadlock - with the latter being denied by the post.
The Spaniards struggled to convert their possession into clear-cut chances and, with 86 minutes remaining on the clock, it seemed probable that both teams were heading for a point apiece.
However, Morata came off the bench 13 minutes from time to secure the points and keep alive his country's hopes of successfully defending their crown.
