With the relegation candidates desperate for points, the midfielder is targeting a win against a Blaugrana side struggling for form despite their cushion at the top of La Liga
While the fixture looks a mismatch on paper, the veteran believes the Catalans may be distracted by the prospect of a Champions League clash with AC Milan three days later.
"They have a very important game next week and there may be a chance for us get something," Valeron told reporters at a pre-match press conference.
With Deportivo eight points adrift at the foot of the table, anything less than maximum points from the bulk of their remaining games looks likely to see them relegated and Valeron is desperate to take advantage of Barca's recent struggles.
“We will not waste any [opportunity]. Though we know how hard it is, we have to go into the game against Barcelona with intent," he added.
“They have had some results that were not expected and you never know if that is for better or worse when facing Barcelona.
"They will want to change that dynamic and that makes them more dangerous. We cannot think about that, only of ourselves, and play a good game.”
