Pellegrini: Bielsa's teams are always dangerous
The Chilean tactician has praised his opposite number at San Mames while targeting victory when the two teams meet at La Rosaleda
Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini has revealed his admiration for Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelo Bielsa. The Basque outfit have endured a difficult season and currently sit just six points off the relegation zone. However, the former Real Madrid head coach has offered nothing but praise for the Argentine and his football philosophy.
“He’s a fantastic coach and has had great success everywhere, in Argentina, Chile and Spain," Pellegrini told a press conference.
"He always instills certain characteristics on his teams. Unfortunately, Athletic haven’t had the best season this year, but they’ll always be a dangerous rival who focuses on the attack, with strong determination to get a good result.
"I wish him all the best, and hope that after this match they can achieve some important wins.”
Pellegrini went on to stress the importance of Malaga picking up all three points on Saturday, with his side battling for that all-important Champions League spot.
"Unfortunately we haven’t won the last three matches at La Rosaleda, for a number of reasons," he continued.
"We managed to achieve some away victories and points add up to the same amount whether they’re from home or away games, but it’d be great to get a win here tomorrow and dedicate three points to our fans.
"A win would be great for us to maintain our league position, as there are several teams all fighting for European positions.”
"Tomorrow we’ll focus on the best team to play against Athletic Club de Bilbao, and then we’ll concentrate on FC Porto."
