Jose Mourinho has opted to carry on with Michael Essien at left-back for Real Madrid's Liga match against Mallorca on Sunday evening, as Marcelo, Fabio Coentrao and Alvaro Arbeloa remain sidelined through injury.

Elsewhere, Luka Modric comes in for Sami Khedira in midfield after the Germany international had to be substituted during Real Madrid's 2-1 Champions League midweek defeat to Borussia Dortmund due to a recurring thigh injury.

Upfront, meanwhile, Gonzalo Higuain replaces Karim Benzema for the Liga champions.

Mallorca name an unchanged line-up from the XI that narrowly lost to Sevilla 3-2 last week, as Joaquin Caparros sets his side up in a 4-4-2 formation, with Victor partnering Tomer Hemed in attack.
