Iniesta: Barcelona still competitive without Pique

The attacking midfielder is confident that the possible absence of the former Manchester United man will not prove to be a problem for the Catalans
Andres Iniesta is confident that Barcelona have what it takes to beat Deportivo La Coruna over the weekend, even if Gerard Pique is not fit in time to feature on Saturday.

The centre-back could make his comeback against the Galicians after spending the past few weeks on the sidelines due to injury, but his team-mate has insisted that the Blaugrana remain a competitive team without the 25-year-old.

"The people who know most about his [Pique] injury are the doctors. If he isn't ready to play, then that’s because he can’t," Iniesta said at a press conference.

"But even if he’s not there, we’ll still have a competitive team. I hope we’ll all be available for the game in La Coruna. After an international break it’s always that little bit more difficult.

"We have to go to La Coruna and get the three points, and then carry on doing the same."

Barcelona currently sit joint first in La Liga with 19 points from seven games.
