The former Arsenal man says the Blaugrana have made a dream start to the season but must keep their concentration if they are to keep the reigning champions at bay.Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has spoken of the importance of building an early advantage over Real Madrid in the battle for La Liga.
The Blaugrana have taken 19 points from their first seven league games and sit joint top of the division with Atletico Madrid and a staggering eight points clear of the reigning Liga champions - something he is desperate to maintain.
"If somebody had offered us this advantage at the start of the season then we would have signed there and then," he told TV3.
"It's great, and now we have to continue with the same mentality."
Fabregas had been dropped by coach Tito Vilanova after a string of inconsistent performances at the beginning of the season, but the playmaker insists that he is not fazed by criticism.
"Neither before are you a bad player nor now, when everything is going well, are you a superstar," he added.
"You always need to be as calm as possible, be hardworking and disciplined, and the results will come."
The former Arsenal man also had kind words for his team-mate Eric Abidal, who yesterday returned to training after recovering from his liver transplant in April.
"It is spectacular for a person to return after what he has been through," Fabregas continued.
"If I had something like that, I would be down for a long time but he takes it with normality, with patience and he is so positive that it is worthy of admiration."
