thumbnail Hello,

Despite a 2-0 win over les Dogues, the Spanish coach has warned his team against losing focus, which he fears could undermine his side's improving performances

Valencia boss Mauricio Pellegrino was pleased with his club's 2-0 Champions League victory over Lille on Tuesday, which places them joint second in Group F, however he remains cautious of the detrimental aspects of his side's game.

Los Che picked up a valuable three points to keep them in the picture for qualification to the knockout stages of the competition, courtesy of two goals from Jonas.

"Playing the way we did tonight will help us win games in the future," announced Pellegrino, speaking the reporters.

"We felt good as a team. We offered good support play and we were always looking to have possession of the ball in order to create more chances. We were looking to score goals up until the sending-off, which actually made the game harder."

Although Valencia were victorious, Pellegrino was keen to point out possible flaws in their game, in the hope of laying some foundations for good performances in the long-term.

"Looking back on previous games, if I have one complaint it is that we lacked concentration. In our previous encounter against Bayern we made some bad decisions.

"Today, we believed in what we were doing as a team. What most occupies my mind now is that the side continues to play like this. Sometimes in football you can work well for 80 minutes and in ten you suffer a drop in form which can end up losing you the match," he reasoned.
