Alberto Botia: Sevilla gave everything we had against Real Madrid
The defender was delighted with his side's narrow victory over the reigning Liga champions and praised his team-mates' collective effort after the game
Sevilla defender Alberto Botia has expressed his delight with his side's victory over Real Madrid on Saturday and saluted Los Rojiblancos' work-rate in pulling off the shock win.Piotr Trochowski's early goal was enough to seal the points and move the Seville side up to third in La Liga on eight points.
"The team gave everything it had. This was an important victory, but it wasn't easy against Real Madrid," Botia told Canal+.
The win marked Sevilla's second victory of the campaign, and the 23-year-old cited thorough preparation as the main reason for Saturday's upset.
"We had been preparing for this game all week. We ran and pressed from the start," he concluded.
Sevilla will look to build on their victory when they travel to Deportivo on September 22.
