Fernando Torres and Roberto Soldado are also named in the 23-man squad, but high profile trio Javi Martinez, Fernando Llorente and Alvaro Negredo all miss outVicente Del Bosque has included David Villa in his 23-man squad for Spain's first 2014 World Cup qualifier against Georgia and friendly with Saudi Arabia.
The 61-year-old manager has recalled the Barcelona striker upon his return to fitness, with Roberto Soldado and Chelsea striker Fernando Torres his other striking options.
However there is no place for Torres's club team mate Juan Mata. Other notable absentee's includes Bayern Munich's Javi Martinez, striker's Alvaro Negredo and Fernando Llorente, all of whom miss out.
Speaking about Villa's inclusion at a press conference Del Bosque said: "It is unusual that Villa is coming. He has hardly played but we thought it would give him a lift.
"All the information we have is that he is well. He is our leading goal scorer and more than that, we felt it right that he came whether he plays or not."
However, Villa's club team-mate Carles Puyol is not included as the defender continues his recovery from a fractured cheekbone.
Spain play Saudi Arabia in a friendly match four days prior to opening their World Cup qualifying campaign against Georgia on September 10.
