The Croatia legend believes that the 26-year-old requires a few months to settle into life his new club, but feels that his compatriot will prove to be a good signing
The 26-year-old signed a five-year deal on Monday to complete his long-awaited transfer to the Spanish capital, and Prosinecki has warned his compatriot that expectations at the Santiago Bernabeu side will be sky-high.
"It is only normal that Luka will need time to adapt. He brings fresh blood and ambition to Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho now has a long-term replacement for Xabi Alonso," Prosinecki was quoted as saying by AS.
"Luka realises that he has to win every day at Madrid, even on the training pitch. However, winning alone is not enough. They also want to see spectacular football.
"The fans expect entertaining performances and good results. If you play brilliant football, but lose or draw the game, it doesn't count for anything."
Prosinecki wore the Real Madrid jersey between 1991 and 1994.
