La Rojita secured a second consecutive European Championship courtesy of a well-taken finish from their star striker Jese RodriguezJulen Lopetegui's Spain side defeated Greece 1-0 in the final of the Under-19 European Championship in the Lillekula Stadium in Tallin this evening.
The only goal of the game was scored by the Real Madrid youngster, Jese Rodriguez, who took his tally for the tournament to five goals winning him the golden boot for the competition.
Spain dominated the match from start to finish, and could well have won the match by more than one goal, but for some superb goalkeeping from the Greece goalkeeper, Sokratis Dioudis. The Greek youngster produced an inspired performance to limit Spain to just one goal, making brilliant stops from Rodriguez, Gerard Deulofeu and Oliver Torres during the game.
Rodriguez eventually broke the deadlock for La Rojita on 80 minutes with a calm finish after the Barcelona prodigy Deulofeu had jinxed his way past a pack of Greece defenders before slotting a pass through to his attacking team-mate, who made no mistake with his shot inside the far post.
The victory means Spain have now won six of the last 11 European Championships at the age category. Before the category was changed from U18 to U19 in 2002, they had won the competition just once, back in 1995.
