Barcelona's Cuenca out of Olympics and sidelined for four months following knee surgery
The Spanish youngster will spend a lengthy spell recovering from an operation and has been confirmed as an absentee at the Olympic Games
Barcelona attacker Isaac Cuenca has been informed that he will have to spend approximately four months on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery. The 21-year-old had an arthroscopy operation after it was revealed that he had suffered damaged to the external meniscus of his right knee, an injury which ruled him out of the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao.
"Cuenca's recovery time will take more than three months, and it will probably amount to four, four-and-a-half months," said doctor Ramon Cugat, who was in charge of the surgery.
This means that besides missing the pre-season for Barcelona, Cuenca will also be ruled out of the Olympic Games in London for Spain.
According to Barca doctor Ricard Pruna, the forward will only be able to resume training in early August, but there is no accurate estimation yet as to when he will be able to play again.
Cuenca, who had his debut for Barca's first team in 2011, made 35 appearances for the Blaugrana during the season, netting six goals.
