Atletico Madrid president underlines importance of Europa League clash against Valencia

The Rojiblancos patron is not getting too carried away over his club's healthy advantage in their semi-final tie and feels that next week's match is the biggest of the campaign
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo believes that next Thursday's Europa League semi-final second leg against Valencia will be the most important match of the season for his club.

Diego Simeone's men go into the fixture with a 4-2 advantage over Los Che, but Cerezo insists the tie is not over despite his side holding the upper hand.

"I do not know when they [Real Madrid and Barcelona] play, but I do know that we play on Sunday at the Vicente Calderon against Espanyol, before the biggest game of the season against Valencia," Cerezo was quoted as saying by AS.

"We took a major step forward, but there are still 90 minutes left and as everyone knows, this is football. Still, it was a great match.

"The players will make a great effort to achieve the goals we laid out at the beginning of the season, and we are on track to achieve them."

Atleti's match against Espanyol kicks off at 18.00CET on Sunday.
