thumbnail Hello,

The 26-year-old was picked ahead of Chelsea's Fernando Torres and is aware that this week's match with Venezuela could hold the key to his immediate international future

Valencia striker Roberto Soldado knows he must impress in Spain's friendly against Venezuela if he is to remain a part of Vicente del Bosque's immediate plans.

The 26-year-old striker is eager to shine on Wednesday in order to persuade Del Bosque that he deserves a place in the squad to travel to Euro 2012.

"I have to be prepared to take the opportunity, hopefully I can contribute my bit," he said during a press conference on Tuesday.

Soldado then touched on the absence of Alvaro Negredo who was ruled out of the international friendly with a thigh injury.

"The loss of Negredo is important but I will face the match as an opportunity to do my job."

Soldado has two caps to his name and is yet to score for Spain.
