Liverpool claimed a 3-1 penalty shoot-out win over Manchester City in Wednesday's International Champions Cup pre-season clash after the two sides were level at 2-2 after normal time.
Stevan Jovetic gave City the lead, tapping home in the box after good work on the right by Jesus Navas. Brendan Rodgers's side hit back soon after, though, with Jordan Henderson curling home a superb equaliser.
Montenegro international Jovetic added his second to put the Premier League champions 2-1 ahead but Liverpool came back again late on in the game as Raheem Sterling slotted home past Joe Hart to force penalties.
After both Aleksandar Kolarov, Yaya Toure and Jesus Navas missed from the spot, Brazilian midfielder Lucas was eventually presented with the chance to win it for the Reds and he scored past Hart to put his side top of their International Champions Cup group.
