Sherwood: I get no respect at Tottenham

The Spurs boss says he has been left in the dark about his future and says his players know more information about it than he does

Tim Sherwood believes he isn't getting the treatement he deserves at Tottenham, saying it has left him feeling like a supply teacher at a school.

Last month, it was reported that Spurs have decided to replace the former Blackburn midfielder as manager at the end of a season which has seen the club fail to mount a meaningful challenge for the top four.

A point at home to Aston Villa on Sunday will see Tottenham secure sixth spot and a place in the Europa League next season.

Despite signing an 18-month contract after replacing Andre Villas-Boas, Sherwood's future at White Hart Lane has been the subject of speculation almost since his arrival, with Louis van Gaal, Mauricio Pochettino and Frank de Boer linked with the post.

And the 45-year-old is frustrated that he remains in the dark over his job security at this stage of the season and feels he has been shown a lack of respect by the club.

"I am doing this job with a lot of uncertainty around my future," he told reporters.

"If you have a supply teacher who comes into your school, sometimes they are not treated with the respect that a headmaster is."

Midfielder Sandro told ESPN Brazil earlier this week that Sherwood was set to leave at the end of the season, and the coach suggested that some of his squad knew more about the situation than he did.

"If I need any information, I am better off asking the players," he added. "Sandro obviously has a knowledge of what is going on. I wish I knew.

"I don't know if the chairman has spoken to Sandro but obviously somebody has told him.

"The players look a lot at the speculation and it begins to be more than that. I have had a lot of players come to me and say to me: 'Our agents have told us you are not going to be here next year.' It's a very difficult situation."
