Chelsea boss Mourinho undergoes elbow surgery

The 50-year-old is thought to have aggravated an old childhood injury and travelled to Paris for the operation, though returns to work on Tuesday to prepare for the visit of Stoke
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho underwent surgery on a long-standing elbow problem on Monday, the west London club have confirmed.

The Portuguese, who oversaw a 3-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, is believed to have travelled to Paris for the operation.

“Jose Mourinho today underwent a minor arthroscopic procedure on a long-standing elbow complaint,” read a tweet from the club's official Twitter account on Monday.

“He will return to work tomorrow.”

The 50-year-old, thought to have aggravated an old childhood injury, will return to work on Tuesday as the side prepare for their FA Cup fourth-round clash with Stoke City on Sunday.

Mourinho's Chelsea re-closed the gap on league leaders Arsenal with their Sameul Eto'o-inspired victory over United, and now trail the Gunners by just two points.
