Hughton looking to maintain strong Norwich form

The Canaries avoided defeat in consecutive games for the first time this season and the former Newcastle boss is hoping to carry that momentum into Saturday's game with Sunderland
Norwich City manager Chris Hughton hopes his side can maintain their good form against Sunderland and extend their unbeaten run to three games.

The Canaries travel to the Stadium of Light on Saturday and Hughton remains confident despite their opponents reaching the Capital One Cup semi-final on Tuesday night after a morale-boosting win over Chelsea.

10/1 Norwich City are 10/1 with William Hill to beat Sunderland 1-0
Norwich avoided defeat in back-to-back games for the first time this season when they followed up a victory over West Brom with a draw against Swansea City, and the club's 55-year-old boss is keen to keep that momentum going.

"With the amount of games that we have over the Christmas period, you have to take one game at a time," he said ahead the weekend's clash.

"Sunderland will be buoyed by their win over Chelsea, but we're in decent form ourselves and that's what we have to focus on.

"We'll need to show the characteristics that we had in the West Brom win if we want to win this weekend."

Recent form has seen Norwich open up a five-point gap on the bottom three and victory on Saturday – combined with other results going their way – could see them move safely into mid-table.
