Robin van Persie has missed out on a place in the Manchester United squad to face Tottenham after failing to recover from the toe injury that ruled him out of recent clashes against Cardiff and Bayer Leverkusen.
The Dutchman, who has six goals in his last eight appearances against Spurs, faced a late fitness test ahead of the trip to White Hart Lane but will remain on the sidelines, as Wayne Rooney continues in a lone role up front.
Nemanja Vidic, though, returns to the starting XI after overcoming concussion and is partnered in central defence by Jonny Evans. Rafael is only fit enough for a place on the bench.
David de Gea and Chris Smalling both make their 100th appearance for United in a side which sees Shinji Kagawa and Danny Welbeck providing support to Rooney, with Marouane Fellaini dropping to the bench.
Andre Villas-Boas, meanwhile, has brought Nacer Chadli back into the side for his first Premier League start since September, with Roberto Soldado continuing up front.
Mousa Dembele, Paulinho and Sandro all start, while Jan Vertonghen has to make do with a place at left-back as Danny Rose continues his recovery, so Vlad Chiriches partners Michael Dawson at centre-back.
