thumbnail Hello,

The 36-year-old manager said his side beat Hull City on Sunday in spite on the home fans, who created a "difficult atmosphere" in the 1-0 win that sent them into fourth place

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust have revealed they share manager Andre Villas-Boas' concern for the atmosphere at White Hart Lane.

The Portuguese boss slammed the home crowd after his side's 1-0 win over Hull City, claiming the fans could do more to spur on the team after they offered "almost no support" in Sunday's victory.

And the joint chairman of the supporter's trust, Darren Alexander, has admitted the atmosphere at the north London ground had been in decline for several years, and is keen to try and rectify the situation.

"I think he's got a very good point when it comes to atmosphere," Alexander told Perform. "It has been getting worse, incrementally, over the last four or five years.

"It's something that the club recognise and they are working with us.

"I think atmosphere is a problem up and down the country. Certainly when we met with the Premier League in June, it's something that they noted."

Alexander believes there a variety of reasons behind the less vocal home support, from the age demographic of match attendees to the on-going debate surrounding the 'Y word'.

"We've got one or two generations of Spurs fans who, for a number of reasons, are disenfranchised from the club," he continued.

"The average age of a season ticket holder is 42 years old. The season ticket holders who made a lot of noise 10 years ago may not physically be able to make that sort of noise any more.

"The previous home game against West Ham, we've never been more oppressed in our own stadium than that day.

"The police were watching our supporters and weren't watching the away supporters, and even when we tried to sing songs that didn't contain the 'Y word', we were being eye-balled by police.

"I absolutely think there was a hangover yesterday from that game."
