The Northern Irishman believes his strike duo are still fine tuning their fledgling partnership despite both scoring in Saturday's win at Anfield

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez can get "even better" after the in-form strikers both scored in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Suarez, featuring in his first Premier League match at Anfield since being handed a 10-game suspension for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic, opened the scoring in the 13th minute before Sturridge doubled the lead shortly after.

The duo have only played together 14 times since the England international's arrival in January but have formed a rapid understanding, notching a combined five goals in the two games since Suarez's return from suspension, much to the delight of Rodgers.

“I think as a partnership Luis and Daniel can get even better,” he told reporters.

“In training you can see the link-up play – they know instinctively where the other is going.

“I think that partnership and their goals can be a massive factor for us. We need to improve on keeping possession and dominating, but going forward we’re as good as anyone.

“It’s such a tight league with so little difference between the top teams that having the goals they provide can really make a difference.”
