Despite coming close to leaving White Hart Lane in 2012, the central defender ties himself to Spurs until 2016 as he closes in on 300 career appearances for the clubTottenham have announced that defender Michael Dawson has signed a new three-year contract which will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2016.
The centre-back had been close to leaving Spurs in the summer of 2012 but has since forced his way back into Andre Villas-Boas's thinking and now holds the captain's armband.
The 29-year-old signed for the north London side in 2005 from Nottingham Forest, going on to play over 200 Premier League games for the club.
Dawson has made 293 Tottenham appearances in total, scoring 10 goals, and wants to crown his likely 300th this season with qualification for next season's Champions League.
He has featured in 10 of his side's 11 matches so far in 2013-14.
