"It's nothing serious," a club spokesperson told the club’s official website. "Nemanja has a touch of sciatica [pain stemming from nerves in the back] and may still join the tour at a later date.
"In the meantime, he'll continue his pre-season preparations in Manchester at the Aon Training Complex."
Moyes’ men take on Singha All Star XI in Bangkok on Saturday, before jetting off to Australia, Japan and Hong Kong for the rest of their pre-season tour.
Vidic managed just 23 appearances for the club last season, as a number of injuries curtailed his involvement in the title-winning campaign.
