City's 2-1 win over West Ham means they can finish no lower than fifth in the Premier League, enabling the Latics to qualify for Europe through their FA Cup run

Wigan will be playing Europa League football for the first time in their history next season after Manchester City beat West Ham 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

City's win means they can finish no lower than fifth in the Premier League, and are therefore now guaranteed European football next season.

This is good for Wigan, who will face City in the FA Cup final on May 11 safe in the knowledge the Europa League spot available for the competition is theirs whatever the result.

Roberto Martinez has more pressing matters to deal with in the meantime however, with his side facing Tottenham at the DW Stadium on Saturday still deep in the relegation mire.
