TEAM NEWS: Sturridge returns to start for Liverpool's Premier League clash against Tottenham
Pepe Reina misses out with a calf injury so Brad Jones starts in goal, while Jake Livermore replaces Aaron Lennon, who has a hamstring problem, for the visitors
Daniel Sturridge will return in attack for Liverpool against Tottenham but Pepe Reina misses out so Brad Jones starts in goal.Joe Allen makes way for the January signing, who has struggled with hamstring and thigh injuries this season. Luis Suarez, therefore, is expected to move out to the left wing.
Jones gets the nod in goal in the absence of Reina, who has a calf injury, while Philippe Coutinho continues through the middle after an impressive display against Wigan.
In the absence of Aaron Lennon, who suffered a hamstring injury in the Europa League tie against Inter, Andre Villas-Boas reinforces his midfield with Jake Livermore.
That means Spurs could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Gareth Bale likely to be in closest support of Jermain Defoe.
Liverpool: Jones; Johnson, Enrique, Agger, Carragher; Lucas, Gerrard; Downing, Coutinho, Suarez; Sturridge.
Subs: Gulacsi, Wisdom, Skrtel, Henderson, Allen, Shelvey, Sterling.
Tottenham: Lloris; Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto; Parker, Livermore, Dembele; Sigurdsson, Bale; Defoe.
Subs: Friedel, Naughton, Caulker, Gallas, Huddlestone, Carroll, Holtby.
