Chelsea remove Di Matteo picture from Stamford Bridge
The club have replaced a poster which featured their former manager alongside the current squad with an image of last season's triumphant Champions League team
Chelsea have removed a picture of former boss Roberto Di Matteo posing with the Champions League trophy from Stamford Bridge's iconic West Stand wall. The image, which depicted the Italian and his players in a traditional squad photo complete with silverware, has been replaced with a shot of Blues stars celebrating following their Champions League success last term.
The original picture was reportedly in place for the club's home game against Wigan on February 9, but was replaced in time for the Blues' FA Cup clash with Brentford on February 17.
Di Matteo led the west London club to two trophy successes last season after taking over from the sacked Andre Villas-Boas in March.
Those wins did not prove sufficient for the 42-year-old to keep his job during a poor run of form earlier this term, however, as he was replaced by current interim coach Rafael Benitez.
