Moussa Sissoko: The Premier League is made for me
The new Newcastle signing scored two goals on his home debut against Chelsea on Saturday and believes he can thrive in the more attacking role he has been handed at St James' Park
Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko is convinced that the Premier League will perfectly suit his style of play after he scored two goals in a dream home debut against Chelsea. The January signing from Toulouse struck twice in the second half at St James' Park on Saturday to lead the Magpies to a thrilling 3-2 victory.
Sissoko, who could play for France in their friendly against Germany on Wednesday, was one of five new additions plucked from the French top flight by Alan Pardew in the winter transfer window.
"I think that this league is made for me," Sissoko told reporters on Monday. "I had the desire to play in the English league and Newcastle gave me this opportunity. I am very happy to be here."
Sissoko enjoyed victory over Aston Villa on his full debut but admitted he could not have hoped for a more successful bow on home turf.
The 23-year-old hopes to continue to contribute as an attacking force having been given more license to roam under his new manager.
"I never would have imagined that," he reflected. "First home game, against European champions Chelsea... if I had been told I would score two goals I would not have believed it.
"My game is forward-driven. At Newcastle and in England football is more offensive so it suits me better."
