Hughton hails 'resilient' Norwich after Manchester United win

The Canaries boss was delighted to see his side remain strong against the toughest test they have faced this season and hails his side's confidence as they make it six unbeaten

Norwich boss Chris Hughton has hailed his side’s resiliency after their 1-0 home win over Manchester United on Saturday evening.

Anthony Pilkington headed the hosts into the lead after 60 minutes, with the Canaries' defence doing well to keep out a barrage of attacking play from Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.

Asked whether the win is the best result he has witnessed since becoming Norwich manager in June, Hughton agreed, claiming his side’s recent run of good form gave them confidence to win.

"It is [the best win], simply because it is Manchester United,” he told reporters. "They tested us more than anybody we have played against and were resilient enough.

"I suppose with the run we are on, the confidence we have from that we were able to show. It is certainly a wonderful achievement.

"It is a great feeling tonight because it is Manchester United, but it is still about three points.”

Norwich now find themselves on an unbeaten streak stretching six games, having beaten the likes of Tottenham, Stoke and Arsenal in recent weeks.

"We had a few good performances at the start of the season where we did not get the points from our performances, so it was so vital we can pick up points," Hughton added.

"We have proved we can do, but we have to play our game at that level, because if we fall below that, then we can get beat. If we do that, it will give us a chance."
