Falcao reveals admiration for Chelsea
The Atletico Madrid star is confident that he could replicate his goalscoring feats in English football and also praises the Champions League holders' ambition
Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has revealed his admiration for Chelsea, saying their standing as Champions League holders says everything about their standing in the game.Goal.com exclusively revealed this week that Chelsea had opened talks over a €60 million January swoop for the Colombian, who has praised the ambition of the Stamford Bridge club, and also listing Blues legend Gianfranco Zola as one of his idols.
The former Porto forward is unfazed by the challenge of the Premier League and believes he will have no trouble getting to grips with the demands of English football.
"I would not be worried about the physical aspect of the Premier League," Falcao told The Daily Mail.
"I have scored goals in Argentina, Portugal and now Spain. I am confident I can adapt my game to any league. I would welcome the challenge of the Premier League.
"I have watched the Premier League for a long time. There is so much quality and it is such an exciting league. Of course it is nice to think I might play in it.
"Chelsea are champions of Europe and there is not much more to say than that. Even after winning the Champions League they still go and sign players of the highest quality. Their ambition is clear.
"I was also a big fan of [former Chelsea forward] Gianfranco Zola when I was growing up."
